After speeches from both Charlie’s Mum Laura Grainger, and from Lesley Robbins Director of White Lodge Centre, Val spoke about the fundraising Pure Hair have done in the past. Five years of fundraising, £51,681.89 raised for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Frimley Park Hospital Breast Care Appeal. After five years, Val explained it felt right to see what other local causes deserved support. A friend of the salon and a patron of the White Lodge Centre, Ray Phillpot, introduced Val and Ben to the charity in Chertsey, and whilst touring the centre it was clear White Lodge was special. Val had also been following Charlie Grainger’s story for sometime, and when Val asked Charlie’s Mum which local services they have relied upon White Lodge Centre came up in conversation - the two causes were a great fit. Val also thanked the talented Pure Hair team, without whom the event would be possible.
An interruption midway through dinner by a member of hotel staff was unexpected - the manager announced the head chef was leaving the hotel after a long period of employment and wanted to say a few words - a very french head chef took to the microphone to say farewell, that it had always been his ambition to sing and he was leaving to follow his dream. Confused, many guests were wondering how the hotel staff could presume to be so rude as to interrupt the evenings events, not least of all when the chef began to sing so badly. However, 3 songs later finishing with a superbly operatic rendition of ‘Nessun Dorma’ it was clear the chef wasn’t an unscheduled interruption, instead secretly disguised surprise entertainment!
During the live auction guests bid for football and rugby experience days, a unique spa day at Coworth Park Spa including private transfer in a Rolls-Royce, a 4 ball at the prestigious Stoke Park, and the star prize, a years worth of hairdressing at Pure Hair.
Guests danced the rest of the evening away until 1:00am, many declaring what a wonderful evening they had on leaving with many asking to reserve tables for next years event!

Our message for the evening was “when you look around, there is a need - and sometimes this can seem overwhelming, and you think there is nothing you can do. You can’t do everything, but you can always do something.”
A huge thank you to our talented team, wonderful clients, friends, family and the local businesses who supported us in our fundraising efforts this year. Your generosity and support is truly appreciated!
